Linux GPU config just got REAL!

Rust 2026/2/17
Summary
Guys, seriously, you HAVE to check this out. I just stumbled upon a tool that's going to change how many of us Linux devs manage our GPUs. My mind is blown!

Overview: Why is this cool?

For years, managing GPUs on Linux, especially non-NVIDIA ones, felt like piecing together a broken puzzle. CLI commands, obscure config files, and never really knowing what’s going on. Then I found LACT! Written in pure Rust, this GUI tool is a breath of fresh air. It finally gives us a sane, unified interface to tweak and monitor our AMD (and some NVIDIA) GPUs. No more hunting through amdgpu-top and sensors – it’s all right there, beautiful and efficient. This is a game-changer for my dev setup!

Quick Start

Seriously, getting this up and running was a breeze. Cloned the repo, cargo build --release, and then sudo target/release/lact. It was live in under a minute! For Arch users, it’s even easier with yay -S lact.

Who is this for?

Summary

Look, I’m not kidding when I say LACT is a must-have for any Linux power user or developer who deals with AMD GPUs. The Rust backend means it’s solid as a rock, and the GUI is incredibly intuitive. I’ve already swapped out my previous flaky monitoring scripts for LACT. This is going straight into my ‘essential tools’ list for future dev machines. Go check it out, you won’t regret it!
